Things to be happy about:

  • It’s raining.
  • Last night, it was smoky and cloudy and warm outside. Kyle and I went for a walk and I ate late-season blackberries. The bank of purple clouds was streaked with orange and pink.
  • It’s soup weather.
  • We go to Italy in less than two weeks.
  • I don’t have to water my garden because of the rain.
  • It’s apple weather.
  • Litquake starts on Saturday.
  • Our friends are giving us a real fridge, so I no longer have to use a fridge from the 1980s.
  • Most people look better in scarves and long-sleeves.
  • It’s book weather.
  • Leaves are starting to turn.
  • We lit a fire in our fireplace the other night.
  • Blankets.

I am going to swear in your blog…I fuckin’ LOVE fall!!! 😛

Your list rocks. It lists a lot of the things I love about this time of year in Sonoma county (the Italy part is a big exception…but I am really happy that you two are going…you will have a kickass time!)

Doesn’t the first rain of the season smell totally AMAZING?

Reading this makes me smile. October is my favorite month too! I am planting (with the help of my dad) a Crimson Maple on my patio and will stare at it every day, every fall. Come over and we will have creamy soups with rustic breads and crisp Sauvignon Blanc. Afterword we will sip chamomile tea while the cool fall breeze flows through our awsomely beautiful coifs. Ahhhh! So nice.

I’m A Master Gardener!

After five-months of practicums, weekly classes, and a grueling 100-question exam, I graduated from the Sonoma County Master Gardener program! Here I am with my … certificate? Degree? Anyway, I’m a Master Gardener now.
